Fall is the Perfect Season to Indulge in Stronger Skincare

Fall is the perfect time for treatments that reboot, rejuvenate and restore your skin. Peels are the heart of good skincare and often over looked. A course of glycolic acid is particularly good for smoothing fine lines on the face and declotte with minimal downtime. Glycolic peels are known as cellular peels and work at the cellular level causing cells to shed rather than sheets of skin. Here we weigh in on the different types of peels that she recommends to recharge your skin during this transitional period.

It's crucial to reboot the skin this season, especially after months of sun exposure and wearing masks for long periods of time. Here's a brief description of peels and which may be right for you.

When we have a peel, the acid we apply penetrates the stratum corneum by disrupting cellular connections and breaking the bonds. Examples of these types of acids include glycolic, lactic and salicylic.

Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid that comes from sugarcane. It is the smallest molecule, penetrates fast and deep and best for tightening the skin and collagen stimulation.

Lactic acid is found in milk and it’s known for its exfoliating and anti-aging benefits is great for general exfoliation and skin brightening but because it has a larger molecule it works mostly on the skin surface making it a great choice for sensitive skin and darker pigmentation skinned people.

Salicylic acid is an alpha hydroxy that comes from willow bark and penetrates oily pores. Great for acne control and good for darker skin tones.

TCA is a man made anti-aging peel. This peel works best for lighter skin tones. Its an amazing peel that promotes pore clearing, a reduction in fine lines, improved skin texture and removes sunspots and freckles.

I recommend having a TCA peel twice per year. Lighter peels throughout the year.To keep your skin looking its best. Fall and early spring are essential.
